- The waterfalls of Minca
- The cocoa plantations

Itinerary
day 1: The welcome ritual
The meeting will be in the afternoon in the city of Santa Marta, close to our place of stay. Depending on the group decision we might go for a short ride or head over to have our briefing dinner where we’ll introduce ourselves and the adventure that will lie ahead.
Day 2: into the mountains
Our adventure begins early in the morning close to Santa Marta where we will receive the trip small luggage and the get on our bikes to do a short warmup ride getting our of the city through a pavement section and then quickly head into the unpaved roads that will lead us to the Sierra. We’ll ride through dry forest and almost desert like conditions between roads and trails past the town of Bonda and then up with a view of the sierra closing in on us. The road will turn eventually into a trail passing small creeks and getting steeper but sorrounded by lush jungle. After some pushing of our bikes we’ll reach the summit and then drop on a very fast descent to the town of MInca, our destination for the day.
Day 3: trails around minca
The town of Minca is surrounded by nature and trails that are worth enjoying. Today we will do 2 loops that pass throug coffee fields, waterfalls and great views of the sea from above. We’ll stop in a coffee farm, then take a plunge in the river. We’ll have some interesting trails to discover and enjoy an the way down: the Kraken and the clockwork Orange.
Day 4: the summit
Our next challenge comes today as we will pedal up the Sierra to the Kennedy hill summit at 2850mts. As we do this, the vegetation and weather will change showing us a different take on the warm weather that we have been used to. The views are amazing. On the way up this monster climb we will stop for refreshments in one of the few fincas that are on the way and go past natural parks know for birdwatching. In the summit we will reach a military batallion that is at the very top of this mountain with a view of the snowy peaks which are the highest mountains in Colombia. We will go down the same way we came enjoying the quick ride.
Our stay will be in a different place a bit higher up in the mountains.
Day 5: The singletrack back down
The challenge today is going down. We will get an early start to tackle the Hunger Ridge Trail, an unknown trail to most that was used by the local communities to go down to the sea. Our ride will go initially past the smaller town of Tagua and the road will start becoming narrower until we reach the trail. It will be around 20KM of singletrack mostly going down and rideable in a good amount with small sections of pushing our bikes. It is a thrill of a ride that will challenge our technical skills but for sure will provide a lot of emotions and satisfaction. We will go back to sea level and reach the road leading us to the river where we will have a well deserved bath in its clear waters.
We’ll head back to Santa Marta and have a well deserved drink and meal by the sea to finish our adventure!
